June 2009 LIFT Fellowship- "Precious Memories"

The June LIFT meeting was a beautiful night. Once again, everyone had an amazing time. The theme was "Precious Memories." One of a woman's most precious memories is that of her wedding day, so the decorations were wedding themed. Everyone felt like they were at a dainty wedding and reception.

Mrs. Sharon made a real wedding cake for the fellowship.

We had lots of fun looking through all of the wedding albums.

We played a build a poem game about marriage. The first line was : Marriage is an amazing adventure. Each person had to add a line to the poem, but could only look at the line directly above theirs. We ended up with a quite humorous little poem about marriage. Below, Mrs. Stephanie is contemplating what her line will be.

We also played the clothes pin game. Each lady was given two clothespins. We could not say the word wedding. If you did and you were caught, you lost your clothespin. Mrs. Catherine won the most clothespins and won a bracelet.

We also had a wedding shower for Mrs. Catherine. She received several lovely and useful gifts.

Mrs. Rachel gave a devotion on Psalm 97:12, "Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness." We were encouraged to make precious memories with the Lord. We were encouraged to add those memories to our precious memories list right along with our graduations, weddings, and births. We were encouraged to pass those precious memories we have with the Lord onto others. We are responsible to pass those memories down through generations to come.

After the devotion we had a sweet, sweet time of sharing our precious memories and testimonies. There was hardly a dry eye in the room. We also had a special time in prayer for an urgent prayer request. The Lord truly knit our hearts together during this meeting. The presence of the Lord was with us. We left with overflowing hearts and more love for each other.

Each lady went home with a bridal box of chocolates brought by Mrs. Sabrina.

Mrs. Rachel made everyone a cone vase with the theme verse attached to take home as a precious memory souvenir.

Also a special thank you to Mrs. Laurie and Mrs. Charity for helping with the finishing touches on the decorations.

We do hope that you will join us for our next LIFT meeting.

April 2009 LIFT Meeting

Everyone who attended had a wonderful time at our first LIFT meeting. The theme was "Spring Clean Your Heart and Your Home". The fellowship hall was decorated with spring flowers and butterflies. We all entered through an archway of flowers.

There was a large selection of beautiful and delicious finger foods.

We spent some time eating and talking and getting to know each other better. When the eating started to slow down, we played a matching game. We had a list of cleaning products and a list of slogans that we had to try and match up. Mrs. Leah Joiner won the game and the prize. She got to take home a gift basket of cleaning supplies. We also played a game of "Have you ever..." We had to answer yes or no to silly or forgetful things that most women have done, but don't always want to say that we have done. Mrs Joan Branning had the most "no" answers. She received a gift basket of assorted girly things for her and her home.

Mrs. Rachel gave the devotion from Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." We were challenged to not only refresh and clean out the clutter and cobwebs from our physical home this Spring but also from our spiritual home. In our spiritual home we try to hide our sins from God and from others just like we hide our messes in a closet or behind a closed door in our physical home. God always sees our spiritual home. The Holy Spirit lives in our spiritual home. We were challenged to daily clean out the grime/sin from our spiritual home. "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:" Psalm 139:23. Ask God to search your heart and your thoughts. Ask Him to show you the dirt and the grime. Ask Him to help you keep your spiritual home clean.

After the devotion we had one last prize. Mrs. Elnora Gilbert's name was drawn. She won a spring welcome sign. Each lady was given a scrubbing sponge to take home.

We hope to have you join us at our next meeting!
