April 2009 LIFT Meeting

Everyone who attended had a wonderful time at our first LIFT meeting. The theme was "Spring Clean Your Heart and Your Home". The fellowship hall was decorated with spring flowers and butterflies. We all entered through an archway of flowers.

There was a large selection of beautiful and delicious finger foods.

We spent some time eating and talking and getting to know each other better. When the eating started to slow down, we played a matching game. We had a list of cleaning products and a list of slogans that we had to try and match up. Mrs. Leah Joiner won the game and the prize. She got to take home a gift basket of cleaning supplies. We also played a game of "Have you ever..." We had to answer yes or no to silly or forgetful things that most women have done, but don't always want to say that we have done. Mrs Joan Branning had the most "no" answers. She received a gift basket of assorted girly things for her and her home.

Mrs. Rachel gave the devotion from Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." We were challenged to not only refresh and clean out the clutter and cobwebs from our physical home this Spring but also from our spiritual home. In our spiritual home we try to hide our sins from God and from others just like we hide our messes in a closet or behind a closed door in our physical home. God always sees our spiritual home. The Holy Spirit lives in our spiritual home. We were challenged to daily clean out the grime/sin from our spiritual home. "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:" Psalm 139:23. Ask God to search your heart and your thoughts. Ask Him to show you the dirt and the grime. Ask Him to help you keep your spiritual home clean.

After the devotion we had one last prize. Mrs. Elnora Gilbert's name was drawn. She won a spring welcome sign. Each lady was given a scrubbing sponge to take home.

We hope to have you join us at our next meeting!
